Anna’s Cleaning Service Inc. Strengthening a Legacy Contracting Business
Anna Moreno, owner of a general contracting business operating in Los Angeles since 1999, has over 18 years of experience providing reliable and high-quality contracting services. Like many businesses, Anna’s operations were significantly impacted by the pandemic, wildfires, civil unrest, and delayed client payments, leading to a loss of clientele and financial instability. Determined to recover and grow her business, Anna turned to ICON CDC’s North Valley BusinessSource Center (BSC) for comprehensive support.
Upon re-enrolling in the BSC program in January 2025, Anna worked closely with ICON CDC staff to access workshops and services designed to strengthen her business. She participated in Spanish-language procurement workshops, developed her business plan, and received guidance on financial literacy, credit fundamentals, and loan readiness. ICON CDC also assisted Anna in reviewing her RAMP certifications and exploring procurement opportunities to expand her general contracting services. Recognizing her urgent need for working capital, ICON CDC guided Anna through the loan application process, collecting and reviewing tax returns, bank statements, and credit reports to prepare her for funding opportunities. Despite previous challenges with lenders, Anna successfully applied for and secured a $28,000 line of credit from BMO, which provided critical cash flow to pay her staff during delayed client payments.
With ICON’s support (submitting forgiveness documentation and communicating directly with SBA representatives), Anna successfully cleared up outstanding debt, which prevented additional financial strain. Thanks to ICON CDC’s technical assistance, Anna was able to retain 8 employees, maintain business continuity, and stabilize operations. With newfound access to capital, procurement opportunities, and ongoing guidance, Anna is now well-positioned to rebuild her clientele, pursue new contracts, and ensure the long-term growth and resilience of her business.
