Building with Purpose and Guidance: Carebuilders at Home of Burbank’s Journey

In March 2026, Tung-Yi, a returning client of ICON CDC South Valley BusinessSource Center, reconnected with the program to launch her nonmedical home care business, Carebuilders at Home of Burbank. The business is located in North Hollywood, CA 91605. She was inspired by her personal experience caring for her ill husband, Tung-Yi set out to build a business rooted in compassion and trust to serve others in her community.

Through her previous engagement with ICON, Tung-Yi had already been connected to critical resources that helped her take key startup steps with confidence. As a result, she was able to successfully file her corporation, obtain her EIN, register her DBA, and secure a commercial office space in North Hollywood. However, as she prepared for her official launch, Tung-Yi recognized the need for deeper guidance to fully understand each process and ensure all licensing and regulatory requirements were properly met.

ICON stepped in to provide that clarity and support.

Through personalized, one-on-one counseling, ICON’s Senior Business Advisor worked closely with Tung-Yi to navigate City of Los Angeles compliance requirements, including her Business Tax Registration Certificate (BTRC). Beyond technical assistance, ICON ensured she understood the purpose behind each requirement—such as business classification, reporting obligations, and maintaining compliance—helping her avoid potential setbacks and build a strong foundation.

In addition to compliance, ICON supported Tung-Yi in planning for growth. With immediate plans to hire an administrative assistant and expand her team of home care providers, she is well-positioned to scale her business. ICON connected her to workforce development resources, including a referral to the Workforce Services Center to explore training opportunities that will support her hiring goals.

Tung-Yi is also receiving ongoing guidance in marketing to help her business effectively reach and serve her community.

Her journey highlights an important message: no matter what stage a business is in, ICON is here to help. Whether returning for continued support or seeking guidance for the first time, clients can rely on ICON for the tools, resources, and expertise needed to move forward with confidence. With her dedication and ICON’s continued support, Tung-Yi is now building her business on a strong, compliant foundation—positioning her for long-term success while making a meaningful impact in her community.
