Four Local Vendors Receive New Carts Through Sidewalk Vending Program

ICON CDC recently celebrated four local sidewalk vendors who received new vending carts through our Sidewalk Vending Program in partnership with the City of Los Angeles Community Investment Department (CID). The event marked an important milestone for these entrepreneurs, with three grill carts and one fruit cart provided to help them continue operating and growing their businesses.

The recipients were Mayra Valenzuela of Que Maiz LLC, who has operated her Mexican food business with her brother for four years in Harbor City, Lorena de Lira of El Carrito Tropical, who has sold fruit at Hansen Dam for eight years, Jesus Barajas of Taco Bout Delicious, and Ahmed Khalaf of 3UP Burgers. In addition to receiving their carts, vendors have received support through the program with needs such as licenses, permits, and other steps involved in operating their businesses.

Representatives from CID joined ICON CDC and the vendors to celebrate the occasion and recognize their continued work as small business owners. Through this partnership, the Sidewalk Vending Program helps local entrepreneurs access the resources, guidance, and equipment they need to strengthen their businesses and continue providing for their families.
