ICON CDC Partners with Metro to Place Mago’s Fruits & Snacks at Vermont/Sunset Station

On September 21, 2026, ICON CDC celebrated alongside Maria Bueno, owner of Mago’s Fruits & Snacks, as she began vending at the Vermont/Sunset Metro Station. The activation was made possible through a collaboration between Metro, Make Good Company, and ICON CDC to connect permitted sidewalk vendors with opportunities to operate at Metro stations throughout Los Angeles.

The activation marked another milestone in Maria’s journey as a small business owner. Maria first connected with ICON CDC in 2022 and received assistance through the City of Los Angeles Sidewalk Vending Program to navigate the permitting process and obtain the licenses and permits needed to operate legally. She was also awarded a fruit cart through the SEED program, helping her turn her plans for Mago’s Fruits & Snacks into a reality.

Through the Metro partnership, ICON CDC was able to connect Maria with a new location where she can reach customers and continue growing her business. For Maria, the opportunity also brings her closer to her long-term goal of making Mago’s Fruits & Snacks a full-time livelihood for herself and her husband while creating greater opportunities for their family.

“This opportunity to sell here at the Metro station will help me move forward with my family and work toward the many dreams we have together.”
