Supervisor Barger Joins ICON CDC and LA County DEO to Celebrate El Patron

El Patrón Mexican Food Restaurant has been part of the Altadena community for many years. Although the restaurant was able to reopen after a brief closure, the Eaton Fire continued to affect its recovery as the surrounding community experienced significant losses and a decline in customers.

With a Small Business Mobility Fund Launch Grant from LA County Department of Economic Opportunity and support from ICON CDC, El Patrón was able to make improvements to the restaurant, strengthen its operations, and continue recovering from the fire’s economic impact.

“We’re investing in the future of our Altadena businesses with special grants that propel them forward. I’m excited to see all that’s in store for El Patrón in this next chapter,” said Roberto Barragán, Executive Director of ICON CDC.

On August 27, 2026, El Patrón celebrated its grand re-opening alongside Los Angeles County Fifth District Supervisor Kathryn Barger, LA County DEO, the Altadena Chamber of Commerce, ICON CDC, community leaders, and local supporters.

El Patrón was one of 18 brick-and-mortar businesses in Altadena supported through the partnership between LA County DEO and ICON CDC. Its grand reopening marked an important milestone for the restaurant and reflected the continued strength and recovery of Altadena’s small-business community.
